   A History of Patient-Friendly Care
The Gentle Dental team has been serving the people of eastern Iowa since 1975. Under the guidance of founder Dr. Duane Schmidt, the practice opened with a promise to see every patient the same working day they called, the first in the area to do so. Another first–our doctors could be reached 24 hours a day to assist patients with urgent, off-hours needs.
Today, we're still keeping those promises, and have added even more services to make dental care convenient for our patients. We operate an 14,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility with 31 chairs. A strong commitment to technology means we provide our patients with the latest treatments. Fair fees and easy payment terms put quality dental care within everyone's reach.
After more than two decades of patient-friendly care, it's not surprising we attract more than 400 new patients each month. As we grow, Gentle Dental's unique combination of service, price and convenience will continue to be an important part of our dental care program.

Our Staff
All 55 members of the Gentle Dental team are committed to outstanding patient care. Dentists and hygienists, receptionists and patient comfort assistants, technicians and management team members–we work together to make every aspect of your visit something to smile about.
We have more than 390 years of combined experience. In addition, our staff completes more than 165 hours of continuing education each year.

Certifications
The Gentle Dental office operates in accordance with strict state and federal guidelines.

   CPR Trained

All staff members have been trained and certified in proper CPR methods.


   OSHA Certified

Our office is certified by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. In 1994, we became the nation's first dental office to pass an OSHA examination without a single violation of the blood borne pathogen standard.

Thanksgiving Dinner For Seniors

Gentle Dental's annual Thanksgiving dinner provides senior citizens with a chance to enjoy turkey and all the trimmings, in the company of other seniors. Each table is adorned with festive placemats created by local school children, fresh flowers and a new toothbrush for each guest. The event has been held for the past 24 years, and is attended by more than 500 elderly guests each year.
